PPSM’s Board of Directors

Some of our current and former board members gathered at the 2025 Daisy Day event this past fall.

Pregnancy and Postpartum Support Minnesota (PPSM) is a statewide non-profit committed to raising awareness, providing support, training and advocacy for perinatal mental health conditions.

We aim to ensure that no Minnesotan moves through their pregnancy and postpartum journey alone.

Our board is a working board and any of our programs such as membership, training, or the resource directory are 100% volunteer-led and supported by board members. Much of the board work will include setting up infrastructure and strategic planning as well as leading community assessment efforts through survey and focus groups.

We are so grateful to current and past board members for volunteering their time, skills, and resources to supporting both PPSM and the people of Minnesota navigating pregnancy, post-loss, and postpartum.

Responsibilities of Board Members

  • A commitment to our mission, vision, and values

  • Active engagement in serving as ambassadors of the organization through fundraising, building partnerships and awareness efforts

  • Participation in strategic and organizational planning and training

  • Ability to read and understand financial statements and annual budget

  • Prepare for, attend and participate in monthly board meetings

  • Actively commit 6 - 10 hours per month to the organization; hours increase with executive team involvement.

History + Legacy

Pregnancy & Postpartum Support MN (PPSM) began in 2006 when Suzanne Swanson, PhD, a St. Paul psychologist, formed the group with other area mental health professionals with a passion for helping moms and families. The group created the first resource list specific to perinatal mental health. In 2015, PPSM became the Minnesota State Chapter for Postpartum Support International (PSI).

We provide support, advocacy, + awareness. We are a volunteer-led organization paving the way for perinatal mental health and setting the standard for competent perinatal care in Minnesota.

Healing happens in connection.
